Our Mission:

Creating a vibrant, thriving community resource and a legacy for Woodbridge

The charitable organisation, Jetty Lane CIO, aim to raise £3.5 million to build an iconic legacy community, youth and arts resource – the Jetty Lane Centre – on a prime site in the centre of Woodbridge, Suffolk.

Our Purpose

The Centre will provide space and opportunities for the 56,000 people of Woodbridge, enabling them to engage in arts, cultural, health and wellbeing activities from cradle to grave.

The Centre, much-needed by a diverse and rapidly growing community, is purpose-designed, sustainable and future-proofed.

Financial sustainability will be provided by high-quality commercial office space for individuals and organisations to rent at market rate.

125

year lease signed

Since its inception as a CIC in 2017, Jetty Lane has negotiated and signed a 125 year lease at peppercorn rent from Suffolk County Council

£250k

raised through DISTRICT and local contributions

The Jetty Lane vision has been supported by the skill, expertise, in excess of 5,000 volunteer hours, and community support of a large number of local people and 20+ organisations.

Charity status

achieved

Since its inception in 2017 as a Community Interest Company, Jetty Lane successfully converted to a CIO (Charitable Incorporated Organisation) in August 2019. It is Registered Charity Number 1184713.

Making Jetty Lane a reality

To make the Centre a reality, we need to raise £3.5m. As a Community Interest Company, to date we have already raised almost £250,000. Now that we are a Charity, we are ready to fundraise in earnest. Jetty Lane will support the social, cultural, and wellness needs of all those living – as well as generations yet unborn - in this wonderful town.

Design

The building’s exterior is boldly designed of materials that reflect the brick, wood and water of its surrounds. The interior is designed to provide modern, accessible space for three distinct user groups; a range of Inter-generational community groups, artists’ studios, and commercial offices.

Need

There is a lack of purpose-built accommodation for community groups, artists and for office-space in Woodbridge. Our central site is accessible by public transport, and there is ample parking. All funding raised will be used professionally and effectively to create this landmark Centre.

Funding

The Centre will be largely self-funding, estimated to break even each year at 85% occupancy. While the initial planning phase has relied on donations from voluntary and local contributions, and District Council funding, the build phase seeks corporate and larger donor support.

Future

Scenarios have been carefully thought through: our analyses suggest that whilst adverse political and economic change may reduce demand for office space, it will increase the need for social care and demand for community space. Interior space has been designed flexibly to help respond to changing demand.

‘I’m 96 but I’m determined to stay alive until Jetty Lane is built. There will be something for everyone there. I want to be there when it opens.’
