A Big Hello From Our Team

Jetty Lane is run by a small team of Trustees Chaired by Caroline Rutherford, Manager at local charity Just42, with assistance from volunteers who are a range of local people with professional and practical skills and experience. We are supported by Scott Mortimer, Architect, in the design of the site.

Caroline Rutherford

Chair and Founder Trustee

I am delighted to be a Trustee of Jetty Lane representing Just42, a registered charity which offers youth mentoring in local primary and high schools, community programmes such as after-school clubs, and support services for children and young people in rural Suffolk. Just42 needs a permanent office so that we can continue with confidence to provide our valuable services – we currently work with about 2,000 children and young people each year, employ 6 members of staff plus sessional workers, and have dozens of volunteers.

It is exciting to be part of the Jetty Lane project, working collaboratively with others in the community to leave a positive and lasting impact on children and young people, their families and the wider community of Woodbridge.

Toby Robins

Vice Chair

At Jetty Lane, I’m looking forward to the adventure of building a building that matters. I have a wildly varied and unconventional career: from establishing small start-ups to consulting for government departments, statutory authorities and 3rd sector organisations. A lot of my work has focused on education, creativity and thinking differently.

Along the way, I’ve figured out how people work and how things get done. It’s exciting that Jetty Lane is a quietly determined and disruptive project. As a group of not-so-young activists, we have the opportunity to deliver an imaginative and inspiring facility in the heart of Woodbridge.

Alongside my paid and pro bono work, I’m a fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, the School for Social Entrepreneurs, and a Trustee of a school’s trust in East Anglia.

Cordelia Richman

Project Manager and Founder Trustee

I started my career managing rehabs for homeless people in South East London and then went on to become the Chair of Citizens Advice Southwark for 12 years. It had 3 high-performing branches, an annual income of around £2million, 40 - 50 paid staff and up to 100 volunteers; I was very much involved in strategic development and HR there. Following this and with considerable experience in management, it was a natural fit for me to help set up Jetty Lane soon after moving to Woodbridge. I have always been motivated to do my bit to bring about a fairer society, plus I have an interest in creativity and the environment, so I am happy to devote time and effort to Jetty Lane - achieving our goal will be well worth it!

Cordelia was awarded the Woodbridge Town Council Potter Community Cup in January 2025. It is an annual award which is made to a person or organisation who has made an outstanding contribution to the life or name of the town in the preceding 12 months.

She was also featured on BBC Radio 4’s World at One Programme talking about Jetty Lane on 12 March 2025.

Sue Gray

Trustee

I have 30 years’ experience at senior level in business, health and social care – with expertise in all aspects of developing and maintaining a successful organisation. As a Director at Suffolk Mind I was involved in the creation of Quay Place, Heritage and Wellbeing Centre, helping to raise the £5 million-pound needed for the project. As a Woodbridge resident I’m drawn to the intergenerational concept behind Jetty Lane.

I’m passionate about practical and effective ways to build wellbeing into our community culture and activities. I see Jetty Lane as a really important way to do that in Woodbridge. Jetty Lane will be a place where people can get their essential human needs met and create a life that works for them.

Carl Stickley

Trustee

With a background in TV and Marketing, I hope to spread the word about Jetty Lane and what it has to offer. Helping to create ideas for crowd funding and the promotion of Jetty Lane is an exciting challenge. As a local father of two I'm solidly behind the project and what it can bring to the community, now and into the future.

Maria Bloom

Trustee

I have always worked in the voluntary sector and since 2006 I have worked for IPSEA, the leading charity in the field of SEND law in England, providing free and independent legal advice and support to families of children and young people with SEND. My role involves writing resources and delivering training on the SEND legal framework to parents and professionals, and training and supervising helpline advisors. I served on the governing board of a local authority maintained Primary school in Essex since 2008 and after moving to Woodbridge in March 2025 I have joined the board of a local school. I wanted to do something else to start to feel part of the local community, so I made contact with and subsequently have become a trustee of Jetty Lane.

Through my work I’m very aware of the challenges faced by children and young people with additional needs and their parents and it was the inclusive ethos of Jetty Lane, and the potential the project has to help this group of people, that really impressed and attracted me.

Bob Aldous

I am an Artist with a wide range of skill sets, including painting, drawing, poetry, installation and digital arts. I paint and draw abstracted landscapes using landscape as a metaphor for internal psychological states. I have a degree in Fine Art from Ravensbourne College of Arts and a Masters Degree in Creative Entrepreneurship. I am also involved with the University of the Arts, London, where I teach Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign digital software.

I am represented by several major galleries and my works have found favour in luxury interior developments including the Old American Embassy building in Grosvenor Square and the Old War Office development in Whitehall. I live in London but often visit Suffolk as I have various art contacts here, I also love exploring the beautiful Suffolk countryside and coast. I am committed to Art having a positive ethical and educational purpose and see it as a force for good as creative expression supports young people’s emotional wellbeing and reduces anxiety. I am delighted to be included in the Jetty Lane project.

Ben Hargraves

Trustee

I’m proud to serve as a Trustee of Jetty Lane and to support its role in the Woodbridge community. With more than 20 years’ experience as a commercial lawyer, I bring expertise in law, negotiation and getting deals done. My career has taken me across the UK, Europe and Asia, working with organisations in different sectors—from law firms and corporates to non-profits.

My focus is to use this experience and work as a team to build a long-lasting, sustainable project that will have a positive impact for the local community. Jetty Lane is an inspiring vision for community space, connection and creativity. I’m committed to helping the charity achieve its ambitions - and having some fun with great people on the way!

In Remembrance

Caroline Page, Woodbridge County Councillor and Jetty Lane's first Chair of Trustees, passed away in 2023.

We will always be grateful for Caroline's immediate and decisive response when Woodbridge Youth Centre was bulldozed in 2016. Concerned for all the displaced community groups and the many, many people who used the centre, she called a series of public meetings and insisted that the site must be saved for the benefit of the community. Jetty Lane was born out of these meetings and we have gone on to secure a 125 year lease on the land. Without Caroline, there could now be retirement flats on the site.

Caroline will always be remembered as our founding Chair, and we are more determined than ever to get Jetty Lane built to ensure that she leaves a lasting legacy for Woodbridge young people.

Kay Yule, District Councillor and Jetty Lane supporter, sadly died in 2024.

Kay was at the very first meetings organised by Caroline Page back in 2017 that led to Jetty Lane being set up. She was a consistent supporter of Jetty Lane and, always elegant, she had a knack of saying the right things at the right time to help us.

Just before she died she sent us a message;

"PEOPLE I still have a long way to go on this road to recovery but I'm determined to be here for the first spade in the ground. Love and hugs to you all."

She will be missed.
